PRIVACY POLICY - AudiO Rediscovery (AOR) Freeholder Forge, LLC Last updated: 23 October 2026 THE SHORT VERSION AOR has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no servers of ours. Your music library and everything AOR learns about it stay on your own computer and your own phone. We do not receive your data, because there is nowhere for it to go. The rest of this page exists because "we collect nothing" is a claim, and a claim should be specific enough to check. WHAT AOR IS AOR is two programs. The desktop app catalogues, repairs and identifies a music library that is already on your computer. The phone app plays a subset of that library which you have chosen to copy across. The phone talks only to your own desktop, over your own local network. There is no AOR service in the middle, and no AOR account to create. WHAT WE COLLECT Nothing. Freeholder Forge, LLC operates no server that receives data from AOR, and neither app sends us anything - not usage statistics, not crash reports, not a count of installations. The single exception is the desktop's update check, described below: it asks for one small file and sends nothing else. The phone app requires no sign-in, has no user profile, and does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts or advertising identifier. WHAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICES AOR stores the following locally, and only locally: - Your music library catalogue: albums, artists, tracks, file paths, tags and artwork. - Listening data: play counts, "loved" marks, ratings, and playlists you create. - Pairing details: which library a phone belongs to, and the credential it uses to prove it. - A crash log, written to a file on your own machine. It is never transmitted anywhere. If you ever choose to send it to us for support, that is an email you write, not something the app does. On the desktop this lives in your Windows application-data folder. On the phone it lives in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. Uninstalling the phone app removes it. WHERE DATA DOES TRAVEL Five places, all of them either yours or under your control. 1. Between your phone and your own desktop. This is the sync. It carries the music you selected and the listening data above. It travels over your local network, encrypted, and the phone verifies it is talking to your library specifically rather than to anything else that answers. It does not pass through us and does not leave your network. 2. To MusicBrainz, the Cover Art Archive and the iTunes Search API. The DESKTOP app looks up album and artist information and cover art. These requests contain the album, artist and track names being looked up. They contain nothing that identifies you, no account, and no information about the rest of your library. These are independent services with their own privacy policies. The phone app never contacts them. 3. To Discogs - only when you click a link, or if you add your own token. Where AOR shows a record you do not own, it offers to search for it. That opens YOUR web browser on a Discogs search page. AOR does not contact Discogs itself, sends nothing in the background, and does not know whether you bought anything. What Discogs sees is a visit from your browser carrying the album and artist you clicked - the same as if you had typed it yourself. The link carries no affiliate tag and no identifier of any kind. Nothing about the rest of your library goes with it. Separately: if you give the desktop app a Discogs access token of your own, it will also search Discogs for cover art, sending the album and artist names being looked up. AOR ships without a token, so unless you add one, this never happens. 4. To a notification service, only if you set one up. The desktop can push a "job finished" message to your phone through ntfy (https://ntfy.sh), a third-party notification service. This is OFF unless you configure it. When enabled, the message text - for example, "Scan complete - 1,204 tracks" - passes through that service. It carries no personal information and no music. You choose the topic name, and you can turn it off at any time. 5. To our website, to see whether a newer version exists. The DESKTOP app checks for a newer release by fetching one small file, https://aor.freeholderforge.com/version.json, and comparing the version number inside it with the one on your machine. The comparison happens on your computer: the request carries no version number, no identifier and nothing about your library. Like any web request, it reveals your IP address to the host serving the file, which is Cloudflare. We do not log these requests ourselves. It never downloads or installs anything and never interrupts you; at most it puts one line on the Maintenance screen. You can switch it off there, after which it makes no request at all. The phone app does not do this. PERMISSIONS THE PHONE APP ASKS FOR, AND WHY Camera Only to scan the pairing QR code shown on your desktop. No photo or video is recorded, stored or transmitted. The camera is not used anywhere else in the app. Network access To reach your desktop over your local network, and for the notification service if you enabled it. Local network / multicast To find your desktop on your own network automatically, so you do not have to type its address. Notifications To show playback controls, sync progress, and any notification you asked for. Foreground service To keep playing music while the app is in the background - which is what a music player is for. CHILDREN AOR is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including children. SHOPPING LINKS, AND WHAT WE DO NOT EARN FROM THEM Where AOR shows a record you do not own, it offers to search for it. Those links are plain searches. They carry no affiliate tag, we are paid nothing if you buy, and we cannot tell whether you did. We are saying so explicitly because it is the one place where money could quietly meet your library, and because the rule matters more than the revenue: which albums AOR reports as missing is worked out from public discography data and what is on your disks, and nothing about that calculation is allowed to depend on what a click might be worth. We would rather report one fewer missing album than one you do not actually lack. There is no advertising in the app, no sponsored placement, and nothing that ranks a record higher because somebody paid. PURCHASES The phone app is a one-time purchase through the app store. The store handles the payment; we never see your payment details. There is no subscription, no licence server, and nothing that checks whether you are allowed to keep using the app. If our website disappeared tomorrow, your copy of AOR would keep working. DATA DELETION Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to delete. To remove what is on your own devices, uninstall the apps; on the desktop, delete the application-data folder. CHANGES If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes rather than only here.
